In the words of Experimental Jetset:

“A few years back, we came across a picture from the early ’80s, showing a halfpipe installed in the interior of Paradiso – a halfpipe put there by the (now long gone) legendary skate store Rodolfo’s. This photograph gave us the idea to create a skateboard for Paradiso, as part of the ongoing series of merch we are developing for them. We reached out to Pop Trading Company, originally just to ask where they print their decks. One thing lead to another – and our initial request snowballed into a full-fledged collaboration between Paradiso, Pop, and ourselves”.

“To explain the overall design concept behind the capsule collection, we have to go back to 1996, when we designed Paradiso’s monthly program poster: an A2-poster featuring perforated holes (holes that would always show the background on which these posters are being hung) – a program poster that is actually still in use today. So, for the Pop/Paradiso collaboration, we decided to take existing skateboards (and existing clothes) of Pop Trading Company, and overprint these items with versions of this perforated, A2-sized Paradiso poster – in such a way that the holes in that design would always show parts of the background”.

“The prints are huge – indeed, A2-sized, just like the original posters. The printing goes over seams, over hems, even over buttons. We actually see this as quite a conceptual gesture. The process of overprinting becomes almost a metaphor for the nature of collaboration: different voices, happening at the same place, at the same time.
